Becoming A Mother For The Second Time

· January 23, 2018

If you are a first-time mom, you might think that having a child for the second time will not be as exciting as your first. You may believe that nothing will live up to the experience of having your first-born in your arms for the first time.

But today we want to talk about the truly incredible gift of having a second child.

The emotions of a first-time mom

As you enjoy your first child and you feel their little heart beating close to yours, you might feel that it is impossible to feel such happiness again.

Pregnancy, birth and meeting your first child are some of the most important moments in the life of any mother. From conception itself, a platonic love story begins that will last a lifetime.

A mother knows how to give herself, dedicate herself, and to fall head over heels in love from the very first moment. She feeds, consoles, cleans and cuddles her baby. She puts her children to bed and holds them in her arms.

All this and more without asking for anything in exchange. But it is surprising and magical to see how life rewards parents with the birth of the first child and the moments that follow.

Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.

-Gibran Khalil Gibran-

Moms of two have more love to go around

the gift of becoming a mother for the second time

It is true that mothers of two young children often feel exhausted, or even, on some of the worst days, depressed.

However, every mom of two knows that she is a lucky woman. She gets to enjoy two smiles, two voices, two ways of playing and living life. Two different people see her as the best mother in the world.

Being a mother of two can seem impossible: looking after the children and herself, the home, work and every other responsibility on top of that.

Only someone who has experienced what it is like to bring up two young children knows just how much juggling and invention is necessary to get through the multiple tasks that life throws at us daily.

Without a doubt, mothers who have a second child learn how to do magic:

  • Dinner is always ready on time, even if it just took a few minutes to cook.
  • It doesn’t matter if mom has to spend all day with her little one in her arms. She alone is capable of getting everything in order so that everyone has clean clothes, a full bottle and their beds made.
  • She might seem to have more than 24 hours in her day. In a single day, a mom of two can work as hard as anyone, but also find time to dry away tears, cuddle, play, and get down on the floor to comfort her first-born who is jealous of their little brother or sister.

Why do we smile when we see a baby? Perhaps it’s because we see someone without all the defensive layers, someone whose smile for us we know to be fully genuine and without guile. And that baby-soul inside us smiles wistfully in recognition.

-Jack Canfield-

A second child means one more reason to live

When nature gives a woman the gift of becoming a mom for the second time, she is giving her the chance to relive all the good parts of her first pregnancy and birth.

She feels an immense sense of reaffirmation from the memories that come to her mind. She knows that what she is about to experience is the greatest happiness of all.

If, with your first child, you discovered a reason to live, be happy, grow as a person and fight for your dreams and those of your child; then with two children, you’ll have twice as much of a reason.

If nature gives you the chance for a second child, be happy, and take the opportunity to grow as a person.

There are many wonders in the universe; but the masterpiece of creation is the maternal heart

-Ernest Bersot-

Make sure that, when your children grow up and know who you for who you are, they are happy to call you MOM.
