Toy Story is one of the most popular children’s animated films of the 90s. Directed by John Lasseter and produced by Pixar in 1995, it chronicles the adventures of a group of toys. This movie has captured the hearts of both children and adults. It was also the first full-length movie made entirely by computer.

The film tells the story of Andy, a six-year-old boy, and his toys. The toys are scared they’ll be replaced when Andy receives new toys for his birthday. His favorite toy is the cowboy Woody, but the unexpected arrival of Buzz Lightyear, an action figure, changes everything.

With Buzz Lightyear now in the picture, Andy tosses Woody to the side. This results in a rivalry between both toys. However, tension between them blossoms into a great friendship when they get lost in the city without knowing how to return to Andy’s house.

Sophisticated animation creates a three-dimensional world full of color and movement, where toys, including childhood classics, such as Mr. Potato Head, come to life.

Toy Story, the movie

The plot is based on the concept that toys have a life of their own. Andy’s favorite toy is Woody, until the arrival of Buzz Lightyear, an arrogant action figure whose cool features quickly impress little Andy.

Apart from the growing jealousy, the relationship between Woody and Buzz is hampered by Buzz’s conviction that he’s a real superhero, not a plastic figure.

However, the duo finally learn to put aside their differences when circumstances separate them from Andy. They find themselves in a hilarious mission full of adventures. The only way they can survive is to remain united.

On the one hand, Woody must learn to deal with feelings of jealousy, rejection, and the humiliation of being demoted to second place. Meanwhile, the arrogant Buzz has to solve his own identity crisis caused by the delusions of grandeur.

Woody and Buzz come face to face with each other early in the movie. Both toys must depend on each other for survival when they throw themselves into the cold and cruel “real” world.

However, the most dangerous place is right next to Andy’s house. Sid, Andy’s neighbor, loves to torture toys and proves to be a real threat.

Mistreated toys become friends with Woody, and they all come together to save Buzz. They also teach Sid to treat the toys with a little more kindness, using some tricks of their own.
