Mommy, I want to thank your from the bottom of my heart for all you do for me. You’re concerned for my future, and that’s why you’re so involved in my studies. And you invest money in classes that will give me the best possible opportunities. But right now’s not the time to be worrying about the competition out there in the job market. That has nothing to do with what I really want to learn from you.

Without a doubt, you are the best mother I could ask for. I’m so thankful that I’ve been given the greatest mom on the planet. However, there’s something you need to keep in mind. My childhood won’t last forever. It’s a fleeting moment that is so unique and so special. And once it’s over, there’s no going back.

So, in some ways, sometimes I feel a bit pressured. Sometimes it seems you put too much emphasis on academic learning. So, please let me make a distinction. Academics aren’t the only thing that matter as far as my education and development go.

Please don’t be offended. I just want to let you know what I feel and think about my preparation. In my humble opinion, you’re overlooking the most important part of my growing up. Of course you need to think about my future. But in doing so, please don’t forget about my present.

What I really want to know can only be learned by your side!

what i want to learn from you, mom

Mommy, there’s so much I want to learn from you. And the greatest thing is that I get to appreciate it all by your side. All I have to do is spend time with you, observing your actions and the choices you make everyday. You’re the best example I can follow; my greatest role model.

I just want to learn how to be a good person. I hope that in the future I will be someone who is considerate, generous and compassionate. Just like you, mom. That’s my heart’s desire. I want to have your same sense of responsibility and your sincerity to face each event in my life.

Mom, you are independent, entrepreneurial, autonomous and happy. You’re the most magical, brilliant person I’ve ever met. And I want to be just like you. I dream of having your same positive  and innovative mind. I want to inherit the optimism with which you take on life’s challenges.

In the same way, I admire your patience, perseverance, persistence and tenacity. I want those same qualities. It won’t matter what life throws my way. What matters will be my noble soul and a good heart. And those are things that can’t be taught in school. Only you can leave me that legacy. And you do it every day, without even knowing it.

Determination. That’s the word! The ability to embrace my passions and chase after my dreams, even if they seem crazy or impossible. Just like you always say, “we deserve to make our wishes come true.” You teach me to believe that I deserve beautiful miracles, and I know I’m going to witness them.

What I want to learn isn’t taught in the classroom

What I want to learn isn’t taught in schools or educational institutions. They are things that I can only learn at home. And this kind of learning is free of charge. It takes place in our daily lives, right before our eyes. We don’t even notice that it’s happening. It’s spontaneous. It’s natural.

Mom, the only thing I want to learn is to be happy. That’s the path I need to follow in order to have a good future. Of course, that doesn’t mean academics aren’t important. I know my education is very important. But believe me, happiness is my destiny. And my childhood is the path to finding it.

I want you to teach me to relax, to be calm. Only then will I be able to move past the valleys of life with your same style and grace. I want to learn to get back up on my feet and put up a fight any time life throws a punch. I want to learn from my mistakes and try again, without fear taking over.

You’re the best teacher for helping me learn the art of thankfulness. And that’s why I want to give you my infinite thanks for your effort, your sacrifice, and your dedication. You do it all in the name of motherhood.

By your example, you teach me that I can always move on. You show me that I should always give my all in the name of love – unconditional and unselfish love.

Mom, the best inheritance you can leave me can’t be bought with money. The greatest investment we can make is times spent together.

What I want to learn from you has nothing to do with English, Geography or Chemistry. I just want to become a good person. I want to be complete. I want to be happy.
