6 Christmas Activities to Enjoy with Your Family
6 Christmas activities to do with your children this holiday season
This time of year offers a wide variety of traditional activities that will fill your children’s hearts and minds with the joy of the season. To keep your little ones entertained, choosing activities that keep them busy and enthusiastic is key.
Take note of the following ideas and adapt them to your family’s tastes, preferences and possibilities.
Visit your local theater
Most cities around the world organize Christmas-themed theatrical events. Research what options are available in your area and make arrangements according to your family’s interests.
You can also look for puppet shows, musicals, or other special holiday events going on at local businesses or establishments in your town.
Baking workshops
Another activity that fits perfectly with the Christmas season is introducing our little ones to the world of baking. Sign them up for a class where they can learn to make gingerbread cookies, cupcakes, hot chocolate and other traditional seasonal sweets.
Cooking and baking are excellent ways for your children to spend their time and feel proud of their own tasty creations.
Go to a Disney-theme park
If your family is looking to make a visit to a Disney park anytime soon, we suggest going in December. You’ll be able to see the park decked out in Christmas garlands, lights, colors and sparkles that will surely fascinate your entire family.
Plan ahead to see what special Christmas-themed activities are available to make this an experience to remember. Don’t miss any of the excitement below:
- Meeting Santa Claus
- Mickey Mouse Parade down the park’s main street, complete with fireworks and famous figures
- Candle procession, holiday music, lights and Christmas stories
- Magical nighttime light shows to make our visit complete
Make a trip to the zoo
Visiting the zoo and seeing all the animals is also a great way to keep your children entertained during their holiday vacation. If your kids have animal costumes, this is a great excuse for them to use them.
If you live in a colder climate, visiting the zoo in winter will provide for an especially unique experience. Some zoos also offer day camps or special Christmas activities during the holiday season.
“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas”
–Calvin Coolidge–
Make Christmas crafts as a family
Put your creativity to the test by making Christmas ornaments, decorations and greeting cards using materials you already have around the house.
You can make trees using cardboard and fabric, decorate glass or plastic containers to give as gifts, and cut out stars to decorate with glue and glitter.
You can also try to make snowmen, collages and gift wrap out of recyclable materials. Your children’s eyes will sparkle as they fill your home with the Christmas spirit
Visit a family farm
Taking your kids to a farm is an excellent activity for Christmas vacation. If you don’t have family or friends who have a farm, you can look for other farms in your area that offer tours.
Your children will love seeing the animals, spending time outdoors, and learning about all of the activities that have to do with farm life. And most of all, you’ll be creating special memories as a family.
Other Christmas activities to enjoy with your little ones
Don’t let the rain, snow or low temperatures dampen your spirits if you live in a colder climate. Check out what other exciting options your community offers and give your children the holiday vacation they deserve.
Take them to hear a storyteller at the local library, go ice skating, see the circus, or even create your own Christmas play. You can also check out the museums close to home, go shopping for Christmas gifts and decorations, or even just go for a drive to see the Christmas lights all over town.
There is an endless amount of possibilities available to make this holiday season a magical one for you and your family. Remember, the time you spend with your children is the best investment you can make.
