4 desserts without chocolate

Whatever the reason may be, in this article we’re going to bring you some delicious dessert recipes without chocolate for children. Many of them also contain fruit, dairy, cereals, nuts and other healthy and nutritious ingredients.

Frozen yogurt

This classic alternative to ice cream is an excellent way to introduce this very beneficial dairy product in your child’s diet.

Ingredients

  • 4 yogurts, natural flavor
  • 200 ml of cream
  • Condensed milk (approximately 4 tablespoons)
  • Optional for decoration: cherries and mint leaves

Preparation

  • In a bowl, whip the cream with a blender at high speed and add the yogurt. Add the condensed milk stirring with a spatula so that the mixture doesn’t lose volume.
  • Pour the mixture into another covered glass container and refrigerate for approximately two and a half hours.
  • Serve the portions in individual bowls and decorate to taste.

Oatmeal Cookies

This is another of the most popular desserts without chocolate for children. It also doesn’t contain too much fat.

Ingredients

  • 230 g of oat flakes
  • 100 g of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 g of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 150 ml olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation

  • In a bowl, add the dry ingredients (oats, sugar, yeast, salt and cinnamon) and stir together.
  • In another bowl, add the liquid ingredients – oil, eggs and vanilla – and stir. Stir both mixtures together. When you’re happy with the consistency of the mixture, you can start to make balls with your hands, and then flatten them until you get “discs” of the desired size.
  • Place them on a baking sheet and cook at 350º F for 15 minutes or until the edges brown a little.
  • Let the cookies dry on a cooling rack. Once they harden they’ll be ready to eat!

Colored Jell-o

This is a colorful dessert, very refreshing and also nutritious.

Ingredients

  • 4 packs of different colors of Jell-o
  • Unflavored Jell-o
  • ½ cup of condensed milk

Preparation

  • Prepare the four packs of Jell-o separately, with approximately one third less water than what is indicated on the pack. This is done to make it set more quickly. Then set aside.
  • Prepare the unflavored Jell-o in the exact way shown on the packaging. Add the condensed milk. Again, set aside. This way you’ll have five different colors of Jell-o.
  • In a glass container, add part of any of the Jell-o colors, up to about 1 cm in height. Put it in the refrigerator and wait for it to set (15 to 20 minutes).
  • Remove it from the refrigerator and carefully pour another color slowly over the previous one. You can even pour from the edges by tilting the container slightly to not spoil the already-set Jell-o.
  • Again, wait for it to set in the refrigerator, and add the same amount of another color. Keep doing this in layers until all the Jell-o colors are used up.
  • We recommend that you serve it the next day, when the Jell-o is fully set.

Donuts

Most children can’t resist a donut, especially with a delicious filling or topping. This is definitely one of our favorite desserts without chocolate on the list.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g of wheat flour
  • 15 g of yeast
  • 80 g of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 250 ml of water
  • ½ teaspoon of salt

Preparation

  • Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with the sugar, yeast and salt. Make a hole in the middle and pour the butter and eggs into it. Beat well until it looks well mixed.
  • Add the water and continue mixing. When it starts to harden, start to knead it, and, when the dough is no longer sticky, make it into a ball. Cover it and let it stand for approximately one hour. By this time, it will have doubled in size.
  • Place the dough on a clean table and flatten it with a rolling pin, until you get a thickness of approximately 1.5 cm. Cut out circles with a cookie cutter, or with a glass. Let them stand for another half hour.
  • Fry them in plenty of hot oil until they brown, or bake at 390º F for about 15 minutes.
  • A tip: donuts can be filled with chantilly cream, fruit jam or covered in powdered sugar, syrup or glaze.

These desserts without chocolate for children can be eaten with soft drinks, as they form an excellent combination. And why not get your children involved in making these recipes? It will help them learn about kitchen utensils and ingredients, and you’ll have a great time together cooking.
