A pediatrician and doctor, specializing in adolescence. She has been a consultant to the Pan American Health Organization, co-founder of the Adolescence Area of the "Ricardo Gutiérrez" General Children's Hospital, researcher and teacher at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences and the National University of Entre Ríos. She has extensive academic and practical training in the area of health, with an emphasis on child and adolescent health.

About the author

Irene graduated in Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires (1978). She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the "Ricardo Gutiérrez" Children's General Hospital, Buenos Aires, and later co-founded the Adolescence area of this institution.

She has a Master's degree in Bioethics and Law from the University of Barcelona (2010). From 2014 to 2018, she was vice president of the Argentine Society for Comprehensive Adolescent Health (SASIA). She is currently a professor in the Bioethics Program of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Argentina, with extensive experience in online education. In addition, she's the author of the Bioethics blog of the same program. She also works as a coordinator in the Saludyadolescencia training space and is a current member of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM), USA.

She is also a speaker on child and adolescent health issues both nationally and internationally. In 2018, she obtained a Diploma in Scientific Journalism from the Favaloro University with an Editorial Perfil Scholarship. In parallel, she currently works in the private sphere in health institutions in the area of Pediatrics and Adolescent Health.
