Cookie dough ingredients:
- 1 1/4 sticks of butter, softened.
- 1/4 cup white granulated sugar.
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence.
- Orange or lemon zest.
- 1 1/3 cups flour.
- Cookie cutters of various shapes.
- Colored sprinkles or edible confetti.
- Chocolate chips.
- Melted chocolate.

- The first thing you and your children need to do before preparing any recipe is wash your hands. Then, add the melted butter, granulated sugar, vanilla essence and lemon or orange zest to a large bowl and mix well. Then work in the flour. Allowing your children to mix the ingredients with their hands will make the experience all the more fun. You should end up with a homogenous and non-sticky mixture. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.

- 2 1/2 cups of oatmeal.
- Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave just long enough to melt them – approximately 30 seconds. You can also place the chocolate chips in a metal bowl and melt them in a pot of water over the stove. In this case, stir the chips until they melt. Then, mix the oatmeal with the melted chocolate.
- Cover a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Using a spoon, scoop out dough and place it on the cookie sheet. Use the same spoon to give the cookies a round shape. Next, place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator to cool until the chocolate has hardened.

- 1 1/4 stick butter or margerine, room temperature.

- 2 cups flour.
- 1 teaspoon lemon or orange zest.

Cookies with filling

- Milk chocolate chips. If you want a stronger flavor, you can use dark chocolate chips instead.
- Cinnamon and sugar, combined. If you so prefer, you can replace the sugar with honey.
- Prepare the butter cookie dough for refilling. Do so by forming golf ball sized balls and poking your finger in them to make an indentation. Allow your kids to help out.
- Fill the holes with chocolate chips and then close the ball around them.
- Roll the dough balls in cinnamon and sugar. Place the cookies on a buttered and floured cookie sheet and press them down a little to make for a flatter cookie.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Allow the cookies to cool and serve them with juice, lemonade or a glass of milk.
