The Arrival of Your Firstborn

The Arrival of Your Firstborn

Last update: 10 March, 2018

The arrival of your firstborn is undoubtedly one of the best moments of your life – an incredible gift and accomplishment.

However, the arrival of a new human being of course brings with it unexpected moments for the new parents and the rest of the family.

Habits change. Routines change. Even from within the womb, the baby becomes a focal point in everyone’s lives.

Let’s discuss the theme of your firstborn entering the world. It will be the start of an extraordinary journey.

All for one and one for all

Before the firstborn’s arrival, the mother will likely have pregnancy symptoms: nausea, vomiting, cramps, and fatigue.

The father might be disoriented, afraid, and happy.

Grandma and grandpa may believe they’re the ones giving birth again. They’ll want to take charge of the situation.

Siblings, aunts, and uncles, cousins… they all have their opinions about the baby and how to prepare.

Even the neighbors and closest friends will come to the “party.”

There’s always the superstitious older person who predicts your baby’s gender.

Everyone participates in some way in the preparation and arrival of the firstborn.

Someone has suggestions on which side to sleep. Someone else recommends which foods to eat to avoid nausea.

The couple’s friends comment about the baby‘s new room. They also talk about the best baby clothes to buy.

The couple’s friends who have children talk about how difficult the first few months after birth are.

The couple’s childless friends may comment that it might have been better to postpone the pregnancy for when they’re better prepared.

In the end, the baby continues to grow in the uterus and doesn’t know what is happening outside.

Preparing for birth

The months leading up to delivery are as complicated as they are fun. There’s a lot to do and everyone will be giving advice.

But the weeks prior to the due date become much tenser.

The baby will be born and no one knows what to call it!

The grandparents like classic names. Younger friends and family prefer more modern names. And the parents can’t decide.

But the baby will be born and we haven’t even finished choosing their cradle!

They will be born and we haven’t prepared the hospital bag!

Quite a few families welcome a new baby without having everything ready.

The firstborn’s needs become everyone’s priority. Nervousness about the baby’s birth clouds the minds of loved ones.

Stroller, bathtub, sheets, diapers, towels, clothing, spit up blankets, toys, bottles, socks, oh my!

All of these things happen during the first 40 weeks of pregnancy.

The day of your firstborn’s birth is extraordinary. You’ll always remember it.

After the mother endures the pains from labor, the moments prior to birth will become mere memories when she sees her baby for the first time.

At this moment, a story of love begins that will last forever.

Something similar happens with the family. This new being is received by the family with open arms and all the happiness in the world.
