This cookie and chocolate cake recipe is soon to be one of your family’s favorites! It’s easy to prepare and only a few ingredients are needed to achieve a fantastic result. For these reasons, there’s no excuse not to make it at home this weekend. And best of all? It’s a much healthier version than the industrial type.

Below, we’re going to show you the steps you have to follow to get an exquisite cake. But first of all, remember that sweet desserts must appear moderately in the diet of your family. It’s best to opt for fruit or fermented dairy products, as they’re foods that provide the greatest health benefits.

If you want to prepare an exquisite biscuit and chocolate cake you need the following ingredients:

  • 275 milliliters of milk to make the chocolate.
  • 300 milliliters of milk to make the infusion.
  • 450 grams of chocolate for desserts.
  • The skin of a lemon.
  • Cinnamon powder.
  • Cinnamon stick.
  • 2 packages of cookies.
  • 50 grams of butter.
Cocoa has many benefits for children.
Cocoa offers multiple benefits to the body. It’s best to opt for chocolates with a high percentage of this nutrient and a low sugar content.

Step-by-step instructions

First of all, you’ll have to infuse the milk with the lemon peel, the cinnamon stick, and the cinnamon powder in a pot over medium heat.

Also, it’s possible to add a little sugar, although this ingredient is optional. Keep in mind that we’re talking about an ingredient that has been shown to affect metabolic health when consumed in excess, so its presence in your family’s diet must be regulated.

When the liquid breaks the boil, remove it from the heat and cover it. Allow it to rest for 30 minutes until a powerful flavor is achieved. Meanwhile, the other part of the milk is heated together with the chocolate and the butter, so that these two melt. It’s key to use some kitchen rods to stir, as the preparation could burn if you don’t.

At this point, you’ll proceed with the assembly of the cake. To do this, start by dipping the cookies one by one in the infused milk, but without soaking them too much. Then, place them in a baking dish until you cover the bottom of the entire dish. Then, pour the chocolate over it and cover the surface well. You’ll have to create 2 or 3 layers of chocolate and cookies to finish off the dessert.

We’ve mentioned that there was the option of adding a little sugar to the milk infusion, but for health reasons, we don’t recommend it as the best alternative.

If a sweeter result is desired, it’s also possible to add an artificial sweetener. These products have a non-caloric character and cause a lower increase in blood glucose levels than carbohydrates.

Now, all that glitters isn’t gold. This type of compound shouldn’t be abused either. According to a study published in the journal Nutrients, sweeteners manage to ferment inside the intestine, which causes changes in the composition of the intestinal microbiota. In the medium term, this could result in a lower digestive capacity or absorption of nutrients.

Of course, not all these sweeteners impact the body in the same way. As much as possible, you should opt for stevia, as it’s a natural option that has a lesser effect on the profile of the microorganisms that inhabit the tube. It’s considered one of the safest options within this class of additives.

Finally, although sweeteners are safe for consumption by children, their impact on long-term health isn’t exactly known.

Take advantage of the weekend to cook a special recipe with your children. That way, you’ll get them used to recognizing the properties of food.

As you’ve seen, preparing a cookie and chocolate cake at home is a really simple task. In a short time and with few ingredients, you’ll achieve a fantastic result, perfect to celebrate any special occasion.

In addition, there’s also the opportunity to vary the original recipe by adding a layer of custard, pastry cream, or flan. All of them will give you a more varied touch.

Be that as it may, remember that cakes and sweets must be included in moderation, always in the context of a balanced and varied diet. This way, they won’t negatively impact the health status of your children.
