My Favorite Place Is with You
Where is my favorite place? It’s with you. Ever since you came into the world, nowhere is as peaceful as where you are.
There is no taste sweeter than that of your kisses and no sound more magical than your laughter.
Since I became your mother, my favorite place is with you. With you, happiness and much more can be found.
My life is composed of all of those little details that are found by your side, memorable, infinite and precious. All of those details have a place in my heart.
Emotions take up a privileged space in our hearts. Motherhood gives us the chance to enlarge that space, expanding our affective capacity in unlimited ways.
It"s something that we could never have imagined. We can now experience many ways to feel happy.
Being a mother brings a lot of happiness and gratitude to our lives. It"s an impossible feeling to explain in words, but most of you readers already know what I"m talking about.
The magic ingredient couldn"t be simpler: having the people we love by our side.
Happiness consists of knowing who and what is important in our lives. Knowing how to remember that the best place in the world is near our children.
Happiness is also made up of caresses and the satisfaction of being content with one’s self.
Human happiness is not achieved with big strokes of luck which happen a few times but rather with small things that happen every day.
Happiness is an option, not a goal
In your day to day, you"ve probably heard someone say more than once – whether it may be friends or co-workers – that they"re tired of everything.
They say that their children are increasingly demanding and difficult. They grumble that they hardly have any time to relax or to enjoy a moment of peace and quiet.
Whenever you find yourself in these situations, keep in mind the following thought:
We can choose to complain or not. We can complain about not being able to sleep, or that our baby isn"t like others and is still using diapers.
But we can also choose to be happy, build with what we already have and focus on improving things in order to achieve a better state.
In the face of adversity, it"s best to appreciate what we have. We must understand that parenting isn"t easy. Since we decided to create life and bring it into the world, it implies effort from our part.
After all, happiness is 80% about attitude and 20% about knowing how to maintain it. Knowing how to understand things with our hearts.
You are my favorite place, my everything
People occupy places in the lives of others. And we"re not referring to physical spaces but rather emotional ones.
To understand this concept better, let’s use an example. You might have a family member who you don"t have a good relationship with. It might be a cousin, an uncle or even someone closer.
If the bond was harmful or traumatic, the emotional space that it occupies in your life will undoubtedly be negative. You may have even chosen to “eliminate” this figure from your heart, erasing them.
However, those who enrich us, who care for us, who love us, validate us and give us happiness undoubtedly occupy gigantic spaces in our hearts and minds.
Thank you for occupying my whole being
Something different happens with children, however. They come into the world and earn all the space in our hearts at first sight. Almost without knowing it, they occupy every little piece of our hearts and minds.
Day by day their space grows bigger and bigger. It is a completely unique experience.
Yet other people, such as our partners and friends, have to gain their emotional space little by little with their good acts, and magical connections that occur so rarely in life.
Our children, however, conquered every inch of terrain immediately, simply by existing.
You are my happiness and you will always be
Happiness is all about attitude. We must understand that we don’t need big things in order to be happy. All we need is harmony, calm and complicity with the ones who surround us.
In order to be happy we must learn how to be tolerant and how to understand the disappointments, sorrow and challenges that we often get from life.
Happy families are those that know how to face adversities together. When we overcome difficulties, for example when we come back home with our premature baby, we feel incredible.
We feel like we have left a challenge behind and that now, everything will move in the right direction. We feel such happiness that it invades our being.
It"s important to be thankful for the whole process because it helped us learn a lot. Whether we believe it or not, it was all necessary.
If you ask me about my favorite place, I"ll tell you it"s where we are together, where we can grow and walk hand in hand. That, my love, is happiness.
