Now that families are spending more time indoors, there are many suggestions going around of activities that children can carry out at home. One of these activities that they like the most is, without a doubt, making crafts. Being able to create, imagine, paint, or glue in the same space of time is a passion for them. With that in mind, we want to offer you some ideas for crafts with clothespins, as clothespins are objects that almost everyone has in their homes.

With these crafts, we’ll achieve two objectives: entertaining children while they create something; and also giving them something to cherish and enjoy once they’re finished!

Children’s crafts with clothespins

Means of transportation

Means of transportation tend to attract children’s attention. From several clothespins, you can make an airplane! To do this, you’ll need the following materials:

  • As many clothespins as you want to create airplanes
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue
  • Paint

The clothespins will serve as the base for the airplane, while the ice cream sticks will be the corresponding wings and propellers of this means of aerial transport. If you don’t have popsicle sticks, you can use other materials such as cardboard, paper, or even clay to create these elements.

On the front part of the clothespins, where they grip, you’ll have to glue one of the sticks on the upper part and another one on the lower part. Then, you’ll have to place one in the front part, which will be the front propeller, and another one in the back part.

You can paint this craft with any colors you want and interchange them between the different airplanes you create. It’s a quick and easy children’s craft that will give them a lot of fun in the future.

A photo frame

Childhood is a time full of moments that we carry with us for the rest of our lives. Therefore, why not create a photo frame and make a photo so that you can honor the memories you’re making together. To do this, you’ll need:

  • Five clothespins
  • Glue
  • Paint

The first step you should follow should be done by an adult, as you have to split the clothespin into two halves. To do this, you’ll have to remove the wire that joins them.

Once you have the ten separate pieces, you can paint them in the colors you want. That’s the second step. The third and last step will consist of gluing the pieces together when they’re dry.

To create a more fun effect in the frame, we recommend gluing the clothespins back to back, and you can now include your photo!

Mermaids

One of the fantastic beings that children like the most are mermaids. This is due to the relationship they have with the sea and, consequently, with water – one of the favorite elements of most children.

Therefore, another of the children’s crafts with clothespins that we suggest is to make mermaids. To make them, you’ll need the following materials:

  • One clothespin for each mermaid you’re going to create
  • EVA rubber
  • Cardboard
  • Glue

The clothespin will be the mermaid’s body. With the EVA rubber and the cardboard, you’ll create all the additional elements of the mermaid, like the hair or the tail. All this to your liking.

Worms

Children love animals, which is why this craft will delight your little ones. What’s more, worms or caterpillars are some of the easiest animals to create. To do this, you’ll need:

  • Colored pompoms
  • One clothespin for each worm you want to create
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes

The first step is to glue the pompoms in a line on one of the sides of the clothespin. You can choose the color combination of the pompoms to your liking.

This way, you’ll be able to create explosions of colors that will delight your little ones. Finally, and to give more liveliness to your characters, you can finish off by gluing on the googly eyes with the glue.
